The church was built between 1964 and 1968, as the number of Protestant Christians in Bad Hall had suddenly increased due to the influx of ethnic German displaced persons towards the end of World War II. In 1978, an independent Protestant parish was established (separation from the mother parish of Neukematen). In the Protestant parish church of Neukematen hangs an altar painting, created by a former spa guest from Bad Hall: Baron von Münchhausen.
