American amber tree

The freshly cut wood contains pleasantly scented resin under the bark, which is used to make chewing gum. The tree owes its name to the balsamic styrax (resin).  "Amber" means "liquid amber", whereby amber is fossil tree resin. The leaves are similar to maple, they have a very pleasant scent and turn carmine red in autumn.
Flowering time is in May
Utilization: Resin, stems, leaves and fruits are used medicinally. Light-coloured, solid wood is used in the furniture industry.
